Election Retrospective 2018: My New Thoughts and Concerns

So I know that it has been like a few weeks since the midterm elections, but it wasn't until now that I decided to give my new thoughts. I normally don't talk about politics on my channel too much, but something in my gut said that I need to make another political blog.

What I want to say is that I'm really disturbed with the new political environment. Ever since Trump was elected president two years ago, people on both sides showed their true ugly colors, and America was changed forever. Some people on the left betrayed conservative friends they knew for a long time over their vote for Trump and also went around causing riots and violence. Now I believe everyone has the freedom of speech to protest, but riots are another, because riots ruin property and hurt lots of people. That being said, Some people on the right showed their true colors. While not all Trump supporters are like this, some of the people on the far right are heartless, racist, and downright nasty people from taking Trump's statements the wrong way and thinking that absolutely everything he does is okay, and so they copy his behavior.

Now it's time for my thoughts on Trump after a couple years have gone by. Not everyone will agree with me on this, but honesty is a godly trait. I think that Trump did some good things for us that Hillary Clinton wouldn't have done. During his presidency, he did things like bringing back jobs, bringing peace between North and South Korea, doing something about illegal immigration and abortions, and acknowledging Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel, just to name a few. But with every good thing that Trump did for us, there are also things he has said and done that I don't agree with and things that I wish he wouldn't do. In his past history he said things about women that were very questionable and he also had an affair with a porn star at one point in his life and also had three divorces. Then again, this is all in the past, and the past shouldn't define the present, which I think is fair. But even in the present, I believe he has an act to clean. I've found that Trump likes to berate and belittle people in inappropriate situations where it is not needed. There's a time and place for everything and I think that Trump needs to hold his tongue more and improve his flaws if he wants even more respect from the people.

It's why I was reluctant to vote for Trump to begin with. Before Trump was elected, I was eyeing the other godly Republican candidates. But when they didn't make it and it came down to Trump vs Hillary, I reluctantly voted for Trump because I don't believe what Hillary believes and I also Hillary as a corrupt liar. And so I didn't want to vote for her.

This being said, here is the deal. What I do is that I separate the candidates from the people who voted for them. Just because a person votes for someone doesn't mean that person gets behind everything the candidate does and the way the candidate behaves. And I'm one of those people. Assuming that someone gets behind every bad act of a candidate just because that someone voted for the candidate is very judgmental. Politics is a divisive topic. Even among the Body of Christ. Christians can differ on certain issues along with the candidates they like. I believe there are at least two spiritual issues that are important if you're a Christian. If you're a Christian, I believe you should be pro life and support traditional marriage. I also think that supporting Israel is important, but that's a topic for another day. Other than that, be sure to have respect for your brothers and sisters in Christ even if you differ on certain issues. We all have our reasons for voting for certain people and voting yes or no on certain propositions.

At the end of the day, I want you to do me a favor. Don't let who you support and what you vote for keep you from being a decent person. If you go around doing and saying awful things because of who and what you support, then I won't have any respect for you. But if you can continue to be a decent person, regardless of who and what you support, then I respect you as a person. With that said and done, keep praying for this country, and that people would repent of their sins, turn back to God, and treat each other fair. For that is the only way we can make America great again. God bless everyone.
