Will the Antichrist REALLY make a treaty with Israel?

So there's a popular theory about how the end times will begin. The theory goes that the antichrist is supposed to make a 7 year peace treaty with Israel, which will kick off the beginning of the Tribulation period. But there is one problem. Where's that in the bible?

Subscribers to this theory will point to Daniel 9:27, which reads as follows: "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

They claim that the "many" in this bible verse refers to Israel. But what clues are there to suggest it is specifically Israel? This interpretation is based on assumption. My guess is that the "many" are Christians, including messianic believers. I am sure there is a true interpretation for this verse, but I highly doubt it should be interpreted as the antichrist making a treaty with Israel.

While we're at it, I may as well talk about the modern state of Israel. I've noticed that this is a very heated topic, with Christian on both sides that are either for or against Israel saying that the other side are not real Christians. But here's my opinion. As someone who's a Messianic Jew, I think we should support the state of Israel's right to exist. The modern state may be recent, but the people of Israel are still God's people. And God will fulfill the promises He made to them. I don't know much about the conflict between Israel and Palestine, so that's something I don't want to comment on because I don't want to risk making a fool of myself. What I do also know is that the people of Israel aren't innocent. They are still imperfect people like us that need to accept our Savior if they haven't already. We should be praying for all people in all countries to be saved, and that includes Israel though certainly not limited to Israel. I believe it's our duty as Christians to pray for Israel and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Thanks for reading this rant as well as my opinion on Israel. What do you think of this theory and do you support Israel? Why or why not? Leave your opinions in the comments. God bless you all!
